Requirements

Must be on time, able to work independently, and dependable.

Must have a reliable form of transportation.

Must be able to work week nights (Monday-Friday) and some Saturdays.

Must be comfortable conducting tutor sessions in-person (i.e., student’s home, local cafe, or local library) and/or virtually via microsoft teams.

Must be currently enrolled in school as an undergraduate or recently graduated college.

Ability to manage groups of students (4 maximum).

Must be a prime example of an outstanding student!

Proficient computer skills, including comfort using laptop, phone/tablet apps and MS Office.

Previous experience mentoring adolescents (i.e. tutoring, camp counselors, volunteering, etc.) preferred.

Some conversational Spanish language skills needed. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Description
J.P. Academia (J.P.A.) tutors will work primarily with students in-person (i.e., client’s home, local coffee house, or library) and/or virtual via Microsoft Teams using a tailored tutoring approach. Tutors will support the J.P.A. mission aiming to provide high quality tutoring support that empowers students to achieve their long-term academic goals. This is a part-time position, requiring candidates to be available on weekday evenings and weekends, as well as up to 10 hours each week.

Wage: $35/Hour

Responsibilities

Develops tutoring curriculum plans for each student with the Lead Tutor.

Guide students through lecture content and homework problems.

Create study schedules and emphasize the importance of adopting great studying techniques for assigned students.

Help students prepare for exams and provide exam tips (i.e., how to address exam anxiety, time management, etc.).

Provide feedback to students at the end of each tutor session.
-
Discuss a brief overview with parents at the end of each tutor session.

Attends and participates in monthly J.P.A. tutor meetings.
-
Report J.P.A. tutoring session overviews promptly.
-
Effectively communicates successes and challenges of each tutor session to the Lead Tutor to provide insight for improvement.

Encourages parents/adult students to complete “Tutor Session Feedback” survey to provide insight for improvement.
-
Other duties as assigned.
